The 20th of January — Cheese Day! What a day for cheese lovers.
Treat yourself to an old favourite, or fall in love with a new one!
Cheese Day enthusiasts like to point out that Cheese Day is really all about anything cheesy in life, and that it’s the best day of the year to watch a really cheesy movie.
In France, Cheese Day is celebrated in April, though the exact date varies wildly from one year to the next. The French consider themselves possessors of a reputation for cheese quality and diversity that no one else will ever match. But the French cheese industry is facing problems. Those of hygiene — trying to eliminate lysteria from its fresh, unpasteurized cheeses, and that of less-well known cheeses disappearing from production.
French consumers spend 7% of their food budget of cheese, and have cheese with two out of every three meals they eat.

Literature & Lore
Man #1: I think it was “Blessed are the cheesemakers.”
Mrs Gregory: Ahh, what’s so special about the cheesemakers?
Gregory: Well, obviously, this is not meant to be taken literally. It refers to any manufacturers of dairy products.
